If you’re not a fan of swimming, Glidden has three parks to offer, one located just next to the pool. The Pool Park has several playground pieces and a shelter with the capability of fitting 80 people. Towards the center of the town lies the largest park, the City Park. It has an indoor and outdoor shelter along with updated playground equipment. The shelters together hold 88 people. The last park, Northland Park, is tailored more towards adults with a one-mile trail, open grasslands, and a butterfly garden. It also has a shelter that fits 48 people. For the sports oriented, Glidden is home to two lighted softball/baseball fields and a soccer field.
Glidden provides its children with recreational programs including softball and baseball, t-ball, soccer, swim team, and swim lessons. Throughout the year, there are events for the whole town to enjoy. These include a 5K fun run/walk, the Fall Family Festival, the Winter Holiday Night, a euchre tournament, an Easter event, and Senior Social Time. The Lincoln Club provides a venue for fine events.
